To ensure ethical practices in scientific research, a dedicated system was established through Resolution 421007749, issued on 10/20/2020 AD by the Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research. This system underscores the university's unwavering commitment to promoting research excellence and fostering a culture of innovation, making it a key strategic priority for Northern Borders University.
Committee Objectives:
1. Establishing a legal framework that regulates the relationships between researchers, subjects, and universities, clarifying rights and responsibilities.
2. Promoting ethical practices in scientific research at local and global levels to align with the university's goals for 2020-2025.
3. Ensuring all personnel involved in scientific research adhere to proper ethical standards, including researchers, assistants, students, and administrators.
4. Promoting the practical application of ethical principles in scientific research.
5. Encouraging research collaborations locally and globally, emphasizing multidisciplinary approaches.
6. Implementing procedures to encourage reporting of ethical violations in scientific research.
7. Ensuring the safety of researchers and participants in research projects, adhering to biosecurity standards.
8. Developing mechanisms to assess researchers' compliance with university ethical guidelines, with sanctions for violations.
9. Establishing methods to evaluate satisfaction among researchers and research participants with the ethics committee's work, identifying areas for improvement.
Committee tasks
- Discuss research projects submitted to the committee to ensure compliance with the scientific research ethics system.
- Ensure the protection of the rights and safety of the living organism.
- Ensure that the researcher obtains the approval of the living organism or its legal representative, after providing complete information about the research, its risks and benefits.
- Ensuring that people who are unable to give informed consent, such as children and people with disabilities, are not exploited in scientific research.
- Issuing a decision to approve the research, after ensuring that it adheres to the standards of scientific research ethics.
- Monitoring the extent to which researchers are committed to implementing the research in accordance with the approval issued to them.
