The Research, Development, and Innovation Unit is tasked with managing research projects submitted under support programs implemented by the university to ensure their quality and adherence to each program's requirements. This aligns with the guidelines and directives set forth by the Research, Development, and Innovation Authority. The unit operates based on administrative and technical directives provided by the Authority and collaborates closely with them to effectively implement support programs.
Responsibilities of the unit include:
- Supervising and monitoring all initiatives and programs submitted by the Authority and ensuring compliance with the regulations and guidelines approved by the Research, Development, and Innovation Authority.
- Verifying that research proposals adhere to the program's rules and instructions outlined by the Authority.
- Ensuring the novelty of research proposals and confirming that they have not been previously submitted to another party or funded.
- Adhering to the scientific integrity controls established by the Research, Development, and Innovation Authority and confirming that citation percentages in research proposals align with program standards.
- Checking for any penalties imposed on research team members for violating scientific integrity.
- Verifying the participation of researchers and the rewards they receive from research projects.
- Ensuring the eligibility of researchers from outside Saudi Arabia, if applicable, in accordance with approved guidelines for the participation of international researchers.
- Confirming compliance with all initiative and program conditions, receiving and reviewing various reports, and successfully concluding the research projects.
- Spending on the unit's requirements and arbitration from the budget allocated in the grant contract.
- Providing the Authority with the reports and statistics required for research, development and innovation work related to the university.
- Submitting periodic reports on the unit's performance to the Authority.
